Yu Geng, M.D.

Founder and CEO, ProSci Incorporated

Dr. Geng is an entrepreneur in biotech industry.  Dr. Geng received his M.D. in the Fourth Military of Medical University, China, and conducted his postdoctoral research at University of California San Diego and The Scripps Research Institute. He is the founder and CEO of ProSci, Inc. ProSci manufactures and markets antibodies to the life science research community and biotech and pharmaceutical industries, and provides custom antibody services worldwide. ProSci is the first company developing and marketing strain specific antibodies against H5N1 and 2009 pandemic H1N1 influenza viruses as well as diverse antibodies and research reagents against SARS and COVID-19.

As a Principal Investigator, Dr. Geng led a team to develop broadly neutralizing antibodies against diverse strains for an HIV vaccine. The HIV vaccine program received multiple SBIR awards from National Institute of Health and generated a US patent and six peer-reviewed publications. The knowledge and experiences in developing broadly neutralizing antibodies against HIV/AIDS has led to successfully developing potent neutralizing single domain antibodies (sdAbs) against diverse variants of SARS-COV-2 including Delta, Omicron BA.1, BA.2, BA.5, and the hybrid variant XBB as well as SARS-CoV. These neutralizing sdAbs target the highly conserved S2 subunit of the spike protein in Sarbecoviruses and have potential prophylactic and therapeutic applications for SARS and COVID-19 caused by existing and new emergence of SARS-like coronaviruses.

SABPA Entrepreneurship and Partnering Committee: The SABPA EPC is a culmination of the previous Bio-Partnering, Entrepreneur Symposium, and Entrepreneur Club, bringing together a consolidated platform for professionals and companies in the biotech industry to make meaningful connections. We aim to 1) empower entrepreneurs by providing them with valuable networking opportunities and knowledge-sharing resources,2) nurture careers through introducing junior professionals and scientists to the exciting field of the biotech industry and presenting them with a range of new career prospects, 3) enable collaborations between scientists, business leaders, and investors, and foster meaningful partnerships.

The EPC curates two types of events: the Annual Forum and the Monthly Salon. The Annual Forum features industry experts as guest speakers on specific topics, followed by panel discussions. We envision this event to be an interactive platform for participants to gain insights and network with industry leaders. The Monthly Salon serves as a networking opportunity for SABPA members. Departing from traditional seminar formats, the EPC Salon fosters informal discussions and exchanges on various topics. It is an ideal setting to forge new connections, explore career opportunities, and generate fresh ideas. It will be held on the first Thursday of every month.
