Despite the deteriorated economy and waves of laid off in local biotech companies, the 8 th annual symposium on Biopharmaceuticals entitled “Riding the economic wave-challenges and opportunities” attracted 600 Biopharmaceutical professionals from San Diego, Orange county and Los Angeles. This symposium invited a number of super stars from both scientific community and business world as speakers, which include the latest Nobel price winner, Roger Tsien, and one of the most accomplished chemists, KC Nicolaou, in addition to successful business leaders such as Jack Florio, David Kabakoff, etc. They presented the latest breakthrough technologies and successes in various fields of biomedical research and drug development, as well as the opportunities and strategies dealing with the current downturn in biotech industry. The symposium also invited a panel of experts from academic, vaccine development, and diagnostic field to discuss the hottest topic right now, swine flu. Overall, this symposium is a huge success, and the attendees, sponsors
and speakers all gave extremely high marks. This is the result of tireless
efforts of Conference Organization Committee, led by Xiangming Fang, the
president of SABPA, many SABPA team members and volunteers. SABPA and
SDCA had their 2nd year collaboration to make this event a success. |
