SABPA Committee - Science and Technology

The Science and Technology Committee is responsible for organizing two major SABPA events. The annual Science and Technology Forum is the longest running series and the San Diego Bio-Pharma Conference is the most influential event led by SABPA.  With support from other SABPA leadership groups and numerous volunteers, this committee has successfully hosted several symposiums:

November 2002: Introduction to Drug Discovery & Development

June 14, 2003: SARS and Anti-Virus Drug Discovery

February 19, 2005: GPCRs and Drug Discovery

March 11, 2006:  Antibody Therapeutics and Diagnostics

March 17, 2007:  Advances in Structure-based Drug Design

March 29, 2008: Green Sciences—Building a Sustainable World

March 21, 2009: Biomarker, Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine

These events provide a platform to showcase the exciting scientific innovation and discoveries, cutting edge technologies, advances in new drug development, as well as current trends in business operation.  Speakers are distinguished scientists, experts in the field, and leaders in biotech and pharmaceutical industries. The forums and conferences have attracted increasing number of attendees and received significant recognition from the community.

The committee encourages involvement and contribution from its members, from ideas to actions. Each member takes leadership role in organizing special event, gaining first-hand experience in running scientific conference.

The committee extends its invitation to everyone who is motivated to serve and contribute to join our team. There are excellent opportunities for leadership training, public speaking, fund-raising and management skill development. It’s a lifetime experience.
