Job Description
Job Title: China Regional Sales Manager, Pharmaceutical-Chemical
Market
Location: Beijing or Shanghai, preferably
Shanghai
No. of Direct Reports: 3 to 5 (subject to growth)
Position Summary:
- Recruit
a team of direct technical sales engineers for the China market in addition to a
pool of channel partners that may be divided across segments including
government sales, multinational pharmaceutical and nutraceutical
companies, and domestic manufacturers including API/Excipient/Packaging
and Fine Chemical manufacturing companies
- Meet sales targets and other key performance metrics for the Portable Analytical Instruments business unit for the
Pharmaceutical-Chemical market in China
(not including Taiwan).
- Deeply understand the fit, need and positioning
for the chemical identification and authentication products from the
business unit.
- Develop
and execute successful sales, marketing and business development programs
targeting multinational operations and determine the optimal sales channel
to serve the government accounts and the local/domestic
GMP and non-GMP chemical industries where handheld instruments could be of
great interest.
- Work in partnership with marketing and
product management to ensure the VOC (voice-of-the-customer) is captured
effectively on the front-end of all new product programs.
Additionally, leverage both marketing and technical resources to ensure
the highest quality training for our sales representatives.
- Develop
a strong knowledge of industry trends and competitive offerings in China.
- Facilitate
local connections within the Thermo Fisher businesses in China spanning scientific
instruments, consumables, materials characterization etc
Minimum
Requirements/Qualifications:

5
to 10 years minimum China
sales and channel development sales
·
Fluent
in Mandarin and English spoken and written communication skills
·
Strong
understanding of the GMP pharmaceutical industry in China
·
Relationships
with key accounts and/or SFDA/NICBP
·
BA/BS
in chemistry or analytical chemistry is preferred
Preferred Skills:
- Experience
in working within multinational companies. Proactive and entrepreneurial
spirit.
- Experience
and interest in more than “just sales management”. Proven experience in
market development, lead-generation programs, product launch and
collaboration with cross-functional teams including product management,
marketing communications and telemarketing.
- Familiarity
in selling analytical instruments to the lab, PAT,or Quality Control
departments
- Experience
and familiarity with molecular spectroscopy a strong positive skillset
(FTIR, Raman, NIR)

Can speak intelligently about the
importance of what GMP means, compliance and validation of analytical
instrumentation (ie 21CFRpart11, US FDA audits, IQOQPQ policies, how
customers will implement products and SOPs).
- Able
to influence senior management on
issues relating to sales, products, business, or strategy
- Able
to interact at all levels with other decision makers/gatekeepers within an
organization
- Good
team player – able to enroll others within the China
team and broader to Asia and worldwide
- Excellent
ability to focus on core issues – developing and implementing appropriate
actionable programs as required
- Excellent
sales development skills for the introduction of new products, services
and concepts
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook;
