Summary/Objective:

This position performs quality control evaluations of raw materials, process intermediate streams and finished products to assure conformity to established specifications by following SOPs. Under nominal direction, this position participates in a variety of basic and general laboratory research and clerical tasks determined by the field and scope of the research study.  Research Assistant reports to R&D Manager and Director of Science.


Essential Functions:

Daily interaction with technical documentation, documentation tasks to be performed with high-throughput and attention to detail
Conduct experiments of a varied nature in support of on market products
Works with multidisciplinary team including other scientists, researchers, and technicians.
Analyze experimental results and provide written reports and oral presentations to executives
Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies
Performs laboratory experiments utilizing standard techniques and equipment
Collects project data
May perform routine logging and testing of samples
Processes, organizes and summarizes data, reporting experiment results using a variety of scientific, word processing, spreadsheet or statistical software applications or program platforms
Assists in the design of laboratory experiments, techniques, and protocols
Performs related laboratory maintenance such as maintaining and cleaning equipment and ordering supplies
Perform other duties & projects as assigned


Required Education and Experience:
B.S. Chemistry or Biology or degree in a scientific field that includes laboratory experience.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
