Zentalis Pharmaceuticals is a San Diego-based pharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery and development of small molecule therapeutics targeting fundamental biological pathways of cancer. In the six years since our inception, we have successfully cleared four INDs with the FDA.  We believe our deep pipeline of oncology therapeutics has the potential to significantly improve the lives of patients with various types of cancer.

 

SUMMARY:

Zentalis is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our drug discovery team. The qualified candidate will be responsible for supporting our drug discovery and development programs. In addition, the qualified candidate will provide significant technical assistance to investigate mechanism of action of novel compounds in a variety of cancer models.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, plan and execute studies and experiments under his/her manager supervision and guidance
  • Maintain cellular and molecular biology protocols in the laboratory
  • Maintain and expand a variety of cancer cell lines and primary cells in different culture media
  • Develop and conduct cell-based assays to characterize potency of candidate compounds
  • Develop protein assays (such as western blot, ELISA, MSD, flow cytometry) and also other molecular biology assays such as cloning, DNA/RNA/protein extraction and RT-PCR
  • Use various techniques of genetic targeting, including siRNA, shRNA and CRISPR/Cas9
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex assays
  • Deliver high quality experimental data in a timely manner
  • Record data according to Company’s policies
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS with 2 years of experience (academic labs or biotech industry)
  • Knowledge of cancer biology is preferred
  • Experience in cell and molecular biology techniques and procedures
  • Very flexible to conduct a variety of assays
  • Ability to multi-task/ prioritize and time management of daily activities
  • Intermediate to advanced software skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
  • Experience using ELN
  • High attention to detail
  • Demonstrate high level of accuracy and effective oral and written communication skills
  • Flexibility within a rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent ability to work in a goal and team-oriented setting
  • Well-developed organizational skills
