Job Description: The Senior Scientist / Associate Director plays a role in the fast-paced and dynamic manufacture and R&D team. She/he is expected to lead the projects in product development, assay development, CRO services and other R&D programs in the stem cell group.  She/he should have extensive experience in human iPSC/ESC culture. The experiences in iPSC reprogramming and differentiation, and neuronal assays (electrophysiologic, images-based neurite outgrowth, etc.) are ideal.  She/he must demonstrate an excellent leadership, be able to guide a team in the department, and provide training to junior scientists, Research Associates, Associate Scientists. The Senior Scientist / Associate Director must have excellent written and oral communication skills, work well with different departments.

 

Major Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead the group of scientists/RAs to execute the projects in product development, assay development, customized CRO services and other R&D programs in the stem cell group
  • Design and execute process development studies focused on iPSC reprogramming, editing, scale-up production and directed differentiation, followed by the efforts in translating R&D protocols into manufacturable processes. Prepare and update SOPs when necessary
  • Monitor and manage multiple projects’ budget and timeline
  • Review and approve protocols and reports
  • Arrange proper training to junior scientists, Research Associates and Associate Scientists
  • Supervise the team’s performance and maintain an efficient yet safe work environment in accordance with company policies/procedures/regulations

 

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. with 5+ years working experience in biology, pharmacology or closely related fields. Candidates with industrial experience is preferred
  • Extensive hands-on experience in human iPSC/ESC culture
  • The experiences in iPSC reprogramming and differentiation, and neuronal assays (electrophysiologic, images-based neurite outgrowth, etc.) are ideal
  • Excellent communication and management skills
