Pyrotech Therapeutics (Pyrotech) was founded by Professor Feng Shao and Dr. TJ Deng in 2021. Pyrotech aspires to become a leading China-centric, original science-driven, global biopharma company that develops innovative therapeutics for unmet medical needs in the areas of inflammation and oncology.

The scientific foundation of Pyrotech is based on ground-breaking discoveries in Dr. Feng’s lab, which leads the field of innate immunity and pyroptosis research. A technology platform called “Molecular Switch for Innate Immunity and Pyroptosis Modulation,” coupled with close collaborations with clinical translation organizations, enable Pyrotech to quickly discover and develop first-in-class innovative drugs to treat inflammation and oncology diseases for the global market.

Based in a 35,000 ft² start-of-the-art research center in the Life Science Park of Beijing, China, Pyrotech has built a 50 scientist world-class team in drug discovery, translational research and development. We are now establishing an office in the San Diego, for research and external collaborations in 2021.

The company has now raised sufficient funds to conduct multiple first-in-class drug discovery projects with staggered initiation of clinical programs for several years. We are building an Oncolytic Virus research team in Beijing to develop biologic therapeutics for cancer treatment. We are seeking a highly experienced innovative molecular virologist with a strong background of oncolytic virotherapy research in the pharmaceutical industry or academia to join us.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Star to build and lead a dynamic oncolytic research group
• Responsible for developing oncolytic virus-based therapeutics in combination of Pyrotech internal Inmate Immunity Modulation technologies
• Manage a multidisciplinary team to engineer next-generation oncolytic viruses with improved therapeutic potential and be accountable for the delivery of new pipeline projects
• Interact and collaborate with science leaders across disciplines to build the strategic direction of the oncolytic virus portfolio and will manage external collaborations in this area.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience within the biopharmaceutical industry or academic research. Have experience in the drug discovery process across different project stages and/or academic experience with viruses as therapeutics (oncolytic viruses, viruses as vectors/vaccine platforms)
• Hands-on experience in the design, engineering, production, isolation and characterization of oncolytic viruses
• Able to identify and develop new virus/vector technologies in the oncology space
• Must be highly motivated and an excellent team player
• Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent, with a focus on virology, microbiology, cell biology, oncology or another relevant scientific discipline.
