One of SPHBio’s missions is to identify biopharmaceutical innovations, acquire Chinese rights, and facilitate entry of these innovations into SPH’s development pipeline. We also intend to assist SPH in finding global partners for its products. To accomplish these objectives, we are hiring a small group of talented business development professionals.
Business Development Consultant (2 positions)
The Business Development Consultant will be responsible for conducting market research in target diseases/conditions, identifying novel late-stage opportunities in those target diseases/conditions for acquisition of Chinese rights, and for maintaining competitive market intelligence in those fields. You will need to be a self-starter, have a collaborative mindset, and have the ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally.
Job Location: San Diego, CA

Collaborate with R&D colleagues to develop non-confidential and confidential program presentation materials, accurate and with a strategic focus to maximize the value of the project.
Lead and coordinate cross-functional due diligence teams, collaborating across research and development, regulatory, marketing, finance, legal, and intellectual property.
Perform commercial opportunity assessments, conducting and incorporating market sizing, competitive landscape analysis, primary and secondary market research, and forecasting.
Monitor competitive intelligence by keeping up to date on market trends, competitors, and opportunities.
Required Background:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, in a science- or health-related field
Market analysis training or a business degree are a bonus
5+ years of biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably with strong R&D experience
2+ years of experience in business development and licensing
Knowledge the drug development process, from early discovery research through development and commercialization stages
Proven ability to manage multiple projects efficiently with a high degree of independence
